PFA Billet alloy steering rack body

Having prepared cars for the iconic and legendary Peking to Paris rallies we found that this event was particularly heavy on suspension. After having a steering rack failure we decided to remove the age of the casting from the equation and over engineer the component for maximum safety and reliability. This rack body is the result.

We based the unit on a DB5 / Early DB6 unit as it was a better steering ratio in comparison to the quicker rack of the DB4.

When assembling this rack it will require the 25-25-118 type pinion and associated bearings and seals.

This unit comes complete with both the upper and lower pinion bearing housings , as well as the damper block thrust plate.

The equivalent Aston Martin component part numbers are as follows,

• 25-25-111 Steering rack housing
• 22-24-122 Bearing cover – upper
• 22-24-120 Bearing cover – lower
• 20-24-116 Cover

This unit when assembled is compatible with DB4 based cars, giving a reduced effort steering .  DB5 models and DB6 type cars however it is not usable with the hydraulic power steering that was fitted by the factory. This rack setup is a nice addition to the electronic power steering kits on the market today and an absolute must for any endurance rally car, or even if you have a damaged existing steering rack and you wish to have piece of mind.
